About me
My name is Laura and I have been the proud owner of Portrait Arts Photography since July 2008. My passion for photography started way back when I was a small person. I was the one who took the family photos. Using a 126 Instamatic camera with the square flashcubes. My dad bought me my first real 35mm camera for my 16th birthday! a Minolta XG-7. I still have it! Most of what I’ve learned has been self-taught. With the internet, it is now much more convenient to keep up with technology and trends in the photography industry.
Part of my WHY
Grandma’s Dilemma
When Grandpa passed away many years ago, Grandma searched for a photo of just him to share with all of us. The only one that she found, was one that he was a part of a big group. After it was cropped and enlarged to show just him, it looked horrible at best. After that, Grandma made sure to have professional photos taken of herself every few years so that when it was time for her to be with Grandpa, we would have photos of her so we could remember her!
This has stuck with me for many years. This reminds me of how important photos are to us. More specifically printed photos.
We are on a mission to bring back the printed portrait. We have a moral obligation to photograph our clients and make sure they document their important moments and favorite people in their lives. Weddings, yearly family portraits, baby’s first year. We help them celebrate their families and special occasions by creating wall art for their homes and keepsake albums to share.
