In 1995, I received my first purchase award from the Wisconsin Union. Two years later, I went on to earn my B.S. in Art from UW-Madison. In 2006, I founded Timothy Hughes Photographics to pursue my love of photography and visual art. I can easily be reached at (608) 345-9329 or by email (preferred): tim@th-photo.net.
I shoot with a full-frame digital SLR camera and prefer using prime lenses (fixed focal-length) when possible. My years of experience as a graphic designer have helped me understand how to deliver strong images that art directors and photo editors demand kick-ass layouts. Rather than leaving things to chance, I take a systematic approach to assignments.
I run a small, full-service photo studio with a cargo elevator, makeup area, garment steamer, props & outdoor photo locations in downtown Madison. The historic, brick stone building (Bedford Square) is 100 years old but it hasn’t lost its charm!
Since becoming a photographer, I have had exhibitions at The Peter Jones Gallery (Chicago), Pico House Gallery (L.A.), Echo Gallery (Chicago), Los Angeles Center For Digital Art, Bert’s Warehouse Theatre (Detroit), Kimia Lounge, Infusion Gallery (L.A.), among others. I’ve received several awards for my photo work and have art residing in the Wisconsin Union, Kinsey Institute (Indiana University), and Wisconsin Historical Society permanent collections.
I work with an awesome network of industry professionals including models, hair/makeup artists, wardrobe stylists & photo producers who can help on shoots as needed.
I’m very fortunate to have hundreds of pages of published photos that have appeared in such websites and magazines as: Glamour, Seventeen, Guitar World, Travel + Leisure, and Madison Magazine. Feel free to contact me to view my print portfolio or for reprint inquiries. I am able to travel internationally, my passport is current, and I love to work!
